Anchoring is a psychological technique that links a mental state to a specific cue, like a word, gesture, or image. By practicing anchoring in a hypnotic state, athletes can train their minds to respond automatically to this anchor, helping them regain focus or composure when they need it most.

Steps to Create Your Own Anchor

 1. Choose Your Anchor: Decide on a simple action, word, or phrase that you’ll use to activate the mental state you want. This could be something like pressing your thumb and forefinger together or saying, “I am strong.”

 2. Enter a Focused State: Begin a self-hypnosis session, breathing deeply and relaxing your body. Allow yourself to reach a calm, focused state.

 3. Recall a Time of Strength: Think of a moment when you felt strong, confident, or calm. Visualize this moment vividly, bringing back the emotions, sights, and sounds that were present.

 4. Activate the Anchor: While in this positive state, use your chosen action, word, or phrase. Repeat this process, linking the anchor to the feeling of resilience and confidence.

 5. Practice Regularly: The more you practice, the stronger the anchor becomes. Soon, simply using your anchor can help you tap into that state of mental resilience on command.
